Proverbs 2:15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

The path the froward man wants to lead you down is a crooked one. You cannot see where it is taking you. He leads you away from the righteous path, one twist, and one turn at a time. The picture is like walking through a crooked forest at night with a lantern in hand. You cannot see afar off, you can only see what is right in front of you and you must creep along not knowing what dangers lie ahead.

We are told he is froward, that means he is willing to twist the truth, manipulate it, and outright lie in order to get his way.  He has perverted the truth because to him it is something to be bent until it fits his agenda.  So, as he lures you into his crooked and winding path, he has no problem assuring you the path is safe.  He knows you will fall into a pit in only a few steps, but he will tell you whatever it takes to get you there.

He is every person who has ever told you God didn’t care about your sin, that He just wants you to be happy.  He is every false prophet who assured you that we all worship the same God.  He is every commercial that shows men and women smiling while they drink and party but never showing the brokenness that follows.  He is every friend who has ever told you to just try something and you will like it, knowing fully that it will destroy your life.  Prudence cannot see where a crooked path leads; if you are to walk wisely, you must avoid this man altogether.
